FASTING AND FORGIVENESS OF SINS
All praise is due to Allah, we praise Him and seek His assistance and forgiveness, may He protect us from the evils of our own selves and our bad deeds. Whosoever He guides no one can mislead him, and whomsoever Allah allows to go astray no one can guide him. I testify that no deity is worthy of worship except Allah alone without partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, his household and companions till the day of judgment.
O servants of Allah, the Prophet climbed up on the Minbar (one day), and then said, Amin, Amin, Amin. when he was asked He said: Jibril came to me and said, “O Muhammad, he is doomed who hears you mentioned and does not say Salat upon you.” He said, “Say Amin,” so I said Amin. Then he said, “He is doomed who witness the month of Ramadan come and go, and he has not been forgiven.” He said, “Say Amin,” so I said Amin. Then he said, “He is doomed who grows up and both his parents or one of them is still alive, and they do not cause him to enter Paradise.” He said, “Say Amin,” so I said Amin. The Hadith requires a powerful caution. A doomed person often lowers his head shamefully. But in the Hadith Firstly, the word رغم أنفه was used instead, which literarily means to put a nose on the ground to show a highest degree of grievance and loss. Secondly, why was the Dua from Angel Jibril and the ameen (saying Amen) from the Prophet? This is to show how great the loss of the one who witnesses the Ramadan without being forgiven can be.
O the believers, the forgiveness of Ramadan is a general and great virtue that everybody can attain. One can be forgiven one’s entire sins by doing small or great acts. Only a desirous person for goodness can achieve these, and the deprived person will miss them. O servant of Allah! there is no doubt that you are fasting Ramadan by obeying the command of Allah. But, Let it be with belief and earning rewards from the Almighty. As the Hadith made mention that “”Whoever fasted the month of Ramadan out of sincere Faith (i.e. belief) and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his past sins will be forgiven”.
O believers! Will it be difficult for one of us to perform ablution at his home and go to the mosque for the congregational prayer? For that there is a great reward from Allah. In the Hadith of Uthman (R.) In the Two Sahihs it is recorded that Uthman Ibin Affan made wudu for the people (to see), just like the Wudu of the Messenger of Allah. Then he said, “I saw the Messenger of Allah make Wudu’ like this, and he said, ‘Whoever makes Wudu like this wudu of mine, then he goes to the mosque and nothing brings him out of his house except the payer, he will be forgiven for his previous sins. If he enters the mosque and says two unit of prayers sincerely , he gets the reward as the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Anyone who performs ablution and performs his ablution well, and then he offers two rak’ahs of prayers in a way that he does not forget ( anything in it), he will be forgiven all his past sins” . Also he will remain in goodness as another Hadith states,’ The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said :The servant (of Allah) is considered to be in prayer so long as he remains at the place of prayer waiting for prayer. The angels will be saying: O Allah, forgive him? O Allah, have mercy on him, until he turns away, or he becomes impure. |
However, Regarding Standing (In Voluntary Night Prayer) with the imam During The Month Of Ramadan does not take much time. The mosque fills with people praying energetically and hopefully in Allah’s reward, they have glad tidings with the hadith of the prophet of Allah saying “If anyone prays during the night in Ramadan with faith and seeking his reward from Allah, his previous sins will be forgiven.” Furthermore, he will be written as one who is in prayer up to Fajr. The messenger of Allah says “Whoever stands (praying) with the Imam until he finishes, then it is recorded for him that he has prayed the whole night.” He eats, drinks and sleeps but he has already been written as he stood for the whole night. Have you ever seen a virtue like this? There is also a night in Ramadan which is equivalent to years of worship and forgiveness for the one who stands because of Emaan and seeking Allah’s reward. Also a new page of life will be opened for him and that is The Night of decree and power.
O servants of Allah the wisdom of prescribing the Fasting is Taqwa (Piety) Allah the Almighty says “(2:183) O People who believe! Fasting is made compulsory for you, like it was ordained for those before you, so that you may attain piety. How come? If a servant observes permissible things throughout a day obeying Allah the Most Kind, and nothing prevents him from eating, drinking and his desire except fear of Allah. Verily, this is the one who can control his desires when heading to prohibitions of Allah. and this is the actual definition of the term Taqwa (Piety) which means to put a barrier between you and the Punishment of Allah by fulfilling his commands and abstaining from his Prohibitions, accordingly, Ramadan ends with a lot of achievements and positive change of life. And a fasting person will be among the successful with no loss after the success. The United Nations has declared the 5th Global Road Safety week on the theme “Leadership for Road Safety”. In this regard, this Minbar (Pulpit) is praying to Almighty Allah to have mercy upon all those who died or sustained injuries as a result of road crashes and may He give the bereaved fortitude to bear the loss. We also appeal to the general public to obey the traffic rules in order to have a peaceful journey and arrive home safely. In conclusion, we will like to commend all stakeholders e.g. FRSC VIO POLICE NEMA FERMA etc. We also advise them to work assiduously in order to bring about safety, orderliness and accident prevention through renovation and reconstruction of our roads. We will like to also call upon the Executive and the Legislature to work hand in hand in restoring the needed safety on our roads. We ask Allah the Exalted to help them, May He be in their Affairs, and reward them abundantly. |
