THE VALUE OF TIME IN THE LIFE OF MUSLIM
All praise is due to Allah the Most-High, we thank Him, we ask for His help, forgiveness, and protection from the evil of our own selves and from the evil of our own actions, Whosoever Allah Has guided, cannot be misled by anyone, and whosoever Allah allows to go astray, cannot be guided by anyone. I testify that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone. And I testify that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is His Servant and Messenger. May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, his household, his companions and those who follow their path till the last day. O servants of Allah Time is very essential and precious thing in Islam. As a result of that, Allah The Almighty swore at the opening of some chapters of his Noble Qur’an with some certain time in order to show us their importance and magnitude. He says: ( I swear by the sun and it’s brilliance. And moon when it follows the sun. And the day when it shows it.) And He also says :(I swear by the time. Most surely man is in loss). And He said:(I swear by the early hours of the day. And the night when it covers with darkness). The Sunnah of our beloved prophet also emphasized the value of time firmly in the Hadith of Muaz bn Jabal and Abu Barzah which states that the messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said : (one’s feet will not move an inch on the Day of Resurrection unless he was asked of four things: _ His life, how he spent it
_ His knowledge, what he did with it
_ His wealth, how he earned it and how he disposed it.
_ And about his body, how he wear it out.)
And youthfulness of a man is part of his entire life, as a result, the prophet of Allah (s.a.w) praised a young Man who grew up in the worship of Allah. And classified him among the seven who will be shaded under the Throne of Allah The Almighty in the hereafter when there will be no shade except that of his Throne.
It is advisable for a muslim to make good use of his life whether long or short by worshipping Allah and helping others and serving them. A long life is a great bounty for a muslim if he makes it to be fruitful, and That is why The Messenger of Allah praised those who are given a long life and associated it with righteous deed by saying: (The best of people is the one whose life is long and his conduct is good and the worse of people is the one whose life is long and his conduct is bad) tirmidhi reported.
A long life is among the desires of man which he wishes and strives for, and with this Satan was able to lure our father Adam (a.s). As Allah (s.w.t) said:(Then Shaytan whispered to him, saying: “O Adam! Shall I lead you to the Tree of Eternity and to a kingdom that will never waste away!) The man usually wishes these two things which are: long life and dominion together with abundance of wealth. Adam was unfortunately deceived and ate from the tree which he was instructed not to by Allah and he consequently disobeyed Allah the Almighty.
One should try his possible best to prolong his life by doing good deeds that he’ll be rewarded on him even after his life.(That is ongoing Charity) The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said:(When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (ongoing charity); a knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him (for the deceased). And he also said:(He who sets a good example in Islam, he has its reward and reward of those who practice it after him without any deduction from their rewards).
O you Muslims Allah (s.w.t) has guided us to the straight path the path of the chosen and selected ones such as prophets, truthful, martyrs and righteous. The Sharia of Islam came to establish a guidance which is different from that of disbelievers. Our Sharia is to be followed not to follow, and to nullify not to be nullified . Allah said: ( Then We have put you on a (legal) way of commandment. So follow what was revealed to you from your Lord, and follow not the desires of those who know not).
And Any muslim who worships his lord, prays for his guidance and to be firm on the straight path in each rakaah, and at the same time participates in disbeliever’s festivals and cultures trying to please them has really contradicted the teaching of the above noble verse. A muslim has to be muslim anytime and anywhere and he should not have two faces in order to please others who are not on his guidance.
Double faces is not an attitude of a good muslim. The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: (The worst of all mankind is the double-faced one, who comes to some people with one face and to others with another face). Furthermore Allah (s.w.t) forbids us to be together with oppressors and those who disobeyed his teachings in their misguidance and immoral activities, so that we won’t be afflicted with what befell on them. Allah the most high said:(And do not incline to those who are unjust, lest the fire touch you, and you have no guardians besides Allah, then you shall not be helped).
O Muslims when the year comes to an end you see people preparing for it by buying gifts and kind of foods and drinks, some spend the night sleeplessly eating and taking sweets and exchanging gifts and greetings and parties. Beautifying houses with lights, pictures and loving written greetings.
O Muslims we should understand that All of these have been cleared stated as Illegal acts and misguidance in our legislation . Allah has forbidden it and scholars have warned against it and issued the fatwa on its unlawfulness because of imitating the disbelievers in it. Allah the exalted said:(do not follow the low desires of people who went astray before and led many astray and went astray from the right path).
It’s compulsory upon every muslim to abstain from such acts like Christmas and New year ceremonies, rather We should consider it as the normal days because it’s not among the festival days of Islam, we should also warn our children, relatives and neighbors to abstain commiting such sins. We should discourage them about it by showing them it’s ill impact on our religion, manners and life.
O brothers in Islam many are going to participate in this up coming Christmas and New year happinesses unknowingly that is a sign among the signs of disbelief, so being with them is automatically campaigning and calling to their religion. This is very dangerous to a muslim’s belief and faith. How can he do so while Allah the Most High saying: (Neither those who disbelieve among the People of the book (Jews and Christians) nor the idolaters like that there should be sent down unto you any good from your Lord). How can a good Muslim be happy with a festivals of disbelievers while he recites in the Qur’an:(Many of the followers of the Book wish that they could turn you back into unbelievers after your faith, out of envy from themselves). How can a muslim compromise and participate in their happiness while he reads:(They desire that you should disbelieve as they have disbelieved, so that you might be (all) alike). And His saying:( If they find you, they will be your enemies, and will stretch forth towards you their hands and their tongues with evil, and they ardently desire that you may disbelieve).
O servants of Allah be proud of your religion, it’s enough for you , correct faith, just law and excellent manners. Don’t be deceived by what those illiterate muslims are doing in supporting this disbelief and immoral Acts. That is what spoil our community and society. Be in a good relationship with your religion. Allah (s.w.t) said:( Follow what has been revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow guardians besides Him, how little do you mind.) And He said:(And be not like those who forgot Allah, and He caused them to forget themselves. Those are the rebellious.)
