Ibrahim is a Specialist in Comparative Law and he was a Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Islamic Legal Studies, Institute of Administration, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He graduated from the Department of Law, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in a year 1977. He did his Research Studies with the Islamic Foundation Leicester, UK, and School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, United Kingdom in 1984 and 1986 respectively. He was a Chairman, Board of the Centre for Islamic Legal Studies, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He held positions as Director, Centre Islamic Legal Studies, Member, Faculty Board of Law, Member, Professional and Academic Board and Member, Senate, all in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. -Ibrahim was also Editor in Chief Journal of Islamic and Comparative Law and he authored several books, conference papers, newspapers articles on law, history, policy, and international affairs. He actively participated in some of the National assignments which include Member, Nigerian Pilgrims Board in 1995, Member, Vision 2020 Committee 1996-1997 and Member, Board of Trustees, Educational Trust Fund 1999-2007. Ibrahim Sulaiman attended many conferences both local and international. He also organised two international events in Kano with participants from West Africa, Asia, and Middle East.
