An accomplished Banker, skilful School Administrator and talented Manager of Human and Corporate Assets, Mustapha Badamasi Atiku was born on February 17, 1954 in Maidabino, Dan-Musa Local Government of Katsina State in far Northern Nigeria. He graduated with B.Sc. (Accounting) in 1980 and M.Sc. (Accounting and Finance) in 1988 from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. His early education was at Yantumaki Primary School in Katsina State (1967), Government College, Kaduna, 1975 and Federal School of Arts & Science, Mubi, Adamawa State, 1977. He attended various courses and seminars at home and abroad on Banking Operations, Credit Analysis, Marketing, Inspection/Investigations and Management. He worked with the Katsina Steel Rolling Company Ltd as an Accountant and later Principal Internal Auditor from July 1981 to July 1985. He worked with Bells Holdings Ltd, a private consulting firm, as Company Secretary and Head of Finance and Administration between February 1986 and June 1987. Mustapha Badamasi Atiku moved to the Banking Industry when he joined the services of Savannah Bank of Nigeria Limited as Graduate Trainee in July 1987. He worked with Savannah Bank for 12 years where he served as and held the following responsibilities in the bank: Operations Officer, Credit Officer, Branch Manager of Sokoto and Kaduna branches, Executive Assistant to the Managing Director and Head of Internal Audit. He resigned his employment with Savannah Bank as a Senior Officer and joined the services of Intercity Bank Plc. in February 1999 and served the bank for ten (10) years in various capacities including: Principal Manager and Head of Internal Audit, Regional Manager of the Bank at Kano Regional Office as an Assistant General Manager and Regional Manager of the Bank at Kaduna Regional Office as Assistant General Manager during the merger of Banks in 2005, Mustapha Atiku headed the Operations Work Stream which was responsible for the development of Unity Bank’s first Banking Operations Manual (Branch and Foreign Operations Manuals). He was the pioneer Divisional Head of Operations of Unity Bank. He served as Chief Inspector of the bank before resigning in July 2009 as Deputy General Manager and Chief Inspector of the bank. He joined the services of Capital Science Academy, Kuje, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on contract appointment in September 2010 as Director of Finance and Procurement and member of the Senior Management Team. He served the Academy for seven (7) years and left on August 31, 2017 at the expiration of his contract. In February 2018, he was employed by International Centre for Islamic Culture and Education (ICICE), Abuja as Director of Finance, Administration and Procurement, responsible for the Coordination of Financial activities, administrative matters, and Procurement.
