IN THE NAME OF ALLAH MOST GRACIOUS MOST MERCIFUL

Jumu’ah Khutbah Translation 27th Safar, 1444AH, Equivalent to 23rd September, 2022
TIME UTILIZATION
All praise is due to Allah who made the night and day as signs for those who see. And He urged His slaves to make good use of their time. I bear witness that none deserves worship except Him Alone without partners. And I bear witness that our leader and Prophet, Muhammad is His Messenger. May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, his household, companions, and those who follow their path in goodness until the day of judgment.
I enjoin you, O servants of Allah and myself, to fear Allah, the Most High, Allah says: (O Mankind! worship your Lord (Allah), who created you and those before you so that you may become Al-Muttaqun (the Pious)).[1]
O believers! Time is the most precious Bounty of Allah and most valuable asset of man. Allah swore by Time in the Qur’an. And He said: By time. Verily Man is in loss. Except those who believe (in Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous Good-deeds, and recommend one another to the truth and recommend one another to patience) therefore Time is the life span of every soul. In it, he earns Allah’s pleasure by doing good deeds or he blemishes his deeds by doing evil. And surely he will be accountable for the time he spends in this world .The messenger of Allah (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “ the feet of the son of Adam shall not move from before his Lord on the Day of Judgment, until he is asked about five things: About his life and what he did with it, about his youth and how he wore it out in, about his wealth and how he earned it and spent it upon, and what he did with what he knew” [3].
How beautiful is the poet’s saying ([4]):
“And the time a treasure you should preserve, but turns out to be the easiest thing you waste”.
So, whosoever realizes the value of time hastened to take advantage of it, the Prophet, (PBUH) said: “There are two blessings in which many people incur loss. (They are) health and free time (for doing good)” (5). Hence, it is obligatory upon us to help our children plan their time properly, guide them to be productive and take advantage of the various opportunities provided by the government for personal development and skill acquisition. O Allah bless our time and lives and make it beneficial to us. And make easy for us your obedience, that of your messenger and whosoever you commanded to us obey. According to your saying: (O you who believed, Obey Allah and obey His Messenger (Muhammad (PBUh), and those you (Muslims) who are in authority.[6]
I ask Allah’s forgiveness for me and you, so ask for His forgiveness for He is the Forgiving, the Most Merciful.
O those who pray! Abdullah bin Masu’d (R.A) said: (verily I dislike to see a man doing nothing. Neither working for the Duniya nor the hereafter) [7]. We should therefore take advantage of our precious lives to teach our children the Qur’an so as to bring them closer to Allah, to shaping up their character and strengthen their Language (Arabic Language). We should strive hard relentlessly to equipping our children with a set of skills that will make them thrive in their highly competitive digital world and make them compete with their peers all over the world. These skills includes:
1-Reading of beneficial books that nurture their brains, broaden their scope and increases their sophistication.
2- Sports: To keep good mental and physical fitness
And others beneficial skills that will contribute to the development of our dear country.
It is the responsibility of parents to keep an eye on their children and guide them on how to be productive while using social media handles. By so doing they will preserve their ideas from being contaminated by bad eggs, shield their morals and values.
